Creative Mind

About Me

I am a person deeply shaped by creativity – not only in the artistic sense but in a general way. I love to rethink, change, and question things. I'm interested in possibilities, not limitations. This mindset accompanies me not only in my art but also in my daily life and my computer science studies. To me, the two are not contradictory – on the contrary: structure and spontaneity complement each other.

Since childhood, I loved painting, crafting, and building – creative expression has always drawn me in. I got into art through simple acrylic paintings on canvas, which I made at home. The medium fascinated me quickly – especially its directness and versatility. Today, I work almost exclusively with acrylics and spatulas. This allows me to apply paint boldly, mix it, and change it intuitively. I often start with an idea, but much develops in the process. I see the painting every day on the easel, reflect on it, find new directions, until it feels right to me.

I'm someone who needs peace when working. I observe a lot, collect impressions, reflect – and only then execute. Nature, daily life, moods, or even just a shade of color on a wall can spark ideas. I’m not trying to explain something – but to evoke something. A feeling. A mood. My paintings are not just meant to decorate walls – they’re meant to resonate. Quietly, but lastingly.

If someone pauses in front of one of my works, perhaps even forgets what's going on around them – then I’ve achieved exactly what I intended.

Art is a Journey

Biography

Philip Strüwer (*2002 in Bielefeld) is a German artist living in Aachen. He grew up in Gütersloh on the edge of a small city, where his creative streak showed early. Even as a child, he sought his own ways to shape things – with LEGO, playing in nature, or painting on canvas for the first time. What began as playful expression gradually developed into a serious engagement with color, form, and impact.

The reactions from his personal circle were crucial: friends and family who were surprised that the abstract, atmospheric paintings were actually by him. These early confirmations encouraged him to pursue his own artistic path – regardless of whether art would become a professional focus.

Philip is currently studying computer science in Aachen after spending a voluntary year in Denmark. That time – shaped by life on a quiet peninsula by the sea – was artistically especially formative. The contrast between the nature-based life in Denmark and the structured city life in Aachen still influences his work today.

His art is abstract and created primarily with acrylics on canvas. He applies the paint using spatulas – directly, intuitively, in flowing movements. Traditional motifs are rare. Instead, it’s about composition, the interplay of colors, surfaces, and transitions. His works should resonate – calm, clear, and at the same time multilayered. They often emerge spontaneously from ideas he collects and develops during everyday life.

He has already had exhibitions and sales – mostly through personal contacts or small-scale presentations. But conventional success is not his priority. Much more important to him is the impact his art has on others: that viewers pause, lose themselves, and find their own perspective.

As an artist, he doesn’t see himself as part of a fixed scene. It’s more about continuous development – technically and in content. His vision: to refine his visual language and bring his artistic intentions even more precisely to the canvas.
